About

I am currently serving Springfield students and teachers as the Elementary Numeracy Coordinator at Springfield Public Schools in Springfield, MO.  This is my first year having a K-5 focus as I served in the same role for the past 3 years serving K-12.

Prior to this role, I spent many years in Title One schools serving as a K-5 Numeracy Coach, a Math Recovery Intervention Specialist, and a classroom teacher.  I absolutely love what I do and feel very fortunate to get to work with such amazing teachers and students every day.  I am very passionate about professional learning and the role it plays in student achievement.

I have a B.S. in Elementary Education, an M.S. in Curriculum and Instruction and an M.S. in Educational Leadership from Missouri State University.

I have two boys, whom I love dearly!  We have a dog named Isengard.

I love to paint, create (especially 3 Act math tasks), support teachers, and teach math. Finding new ways to engage students in mathematics through problem based learning, inquiry, and open tasks are passions of mine.  I am also very passionate about providing equitable teaching and learning experiences for students and teachers.  Other things I love are tree hugging, advocating for clean oceans, sea turtles, and science fiction!

  1. Anne Arundel County Public Schools, Maryland, would like to use some of your 3-ACT Math lessons as extensions in their grade 3-5 curriculum. Do we have your permission to link to your page?

  2. Hi Catherine – I’m wondering if we could use some of your Three Acts Blog posts as Case Studies in our No Fear Coding book. It will go to publication in May 2017 for ISTE (International Society for Technology in Education). In working with my publisher we could pay you a small stipend and it would bring more traffic to your Blog!
