About

I am the Coordinator of 21st Century Numeracy at Springfield Public Schools in Springfield, MO.  I am also an adjunct professor for Drury University and a Code.org facilitator.  In years past, I have served as a Numeracy Coach, a Math Recovery Intervention Specialist, and a classroom teacher.  I absolutely love what I do and feel very fortunate to get to work with such amazing teachers and students every day.

I have a B.S. in Elementary Education, an M.S. in Curriculum and Instruction and an M.S. in Educational Leadership from Missouri State University.

I have two boys, one in 5th grade and the other is a freshman in College studying to be a marine biologist.  We have a dog named Isengard (because yes we are that nerdy).

I love to make, create, and teach math.  Finding new ways to engage students in mathematics through problem based learning, inquiry, and open tasks are passions of mine.  Other things I love are coding, tree hugging, advocating for clean oceans, sea turtles, science fiction and comics!

  1. Anne Arundel County Public Schools, Maryland, would like to use some of your 3-ACT Math lessons as extensions in their grade 3-5 curriculum. Do we have your permission to link to your page?

  2. Hi Catherine – I’m wondering if we could use some of your Three Acts Blog posts as Case Studies in our No Fear Coding book. It will go to publication in May 2017 for ISTE (International Society for Technology in Education). In working with my publisher we could pay you a small stipend and it would bring more traffic to your Blog!

  3. Hi! I am interested in your Nearpod lessons for the 3 Act math tasks. However when I click on the links it says a code is needed. Do you have working links?
